About Our Chapter

Our Families

We are excited to serve families in need in the Greater Springfield area.

Our Churches

The local churches play a vital role in recruiting and supporting their congregation to serve others in a crisis situation. Each church has differing congregation sizes and they vary from denominational to non-denominational backgrounds. They all play an active role. Our volunteers are followers of Jesus and desire to do their part in reaching out to struggling families in their communities.

Our Team

Our wonderful group of volunteers make the Safe Families movement possible in the Springfield area.  They are supported by a staff of professionals dedicated to assisting the volunteers and helping families in crisis get back on their feet. Our staff devotes their time towards engaging churches, building the volunteer base, transitioning children, meeting with local agencies, providing volunteer trainings,  supporting placing parents, and so much more.

Kasey

Kasey Miller

Chapter Director

Kasey is a long-time resident of Springfield and has a heart to serve children and families in her community. Her background includes degrees in both psychology and education. Kasey has taught the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades and has served on the mobile crisis response team at Memorial Hospital in Springfield. Additionally, she is very familiar with the local child welfare system having fostered many children and later adopting her 4 youngest kids.

Kasey is no stranger to the world of NFPs. She has served as the social media/marketing manager for another non-profit that supports children in the community. Through her work with that organization, Kasey realized her passion in working with children in care and brings that passion with her into her new role as the Springfield chapter director of Safe Families.

Kasey’s goals for the chapter include increasing exposure within the community and gaining more volunteers. The Bible verse that she carries with her as she sets out to do the work that she has been called to is Mark 9:37, which states, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”
